Exemptions

The Manatee County Property Appraiser’s Office offers eligible permanent residents property tax relief in the form of a standard exemption of up to $50,000. Seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities receive additional benefits. The deadline to apply for the exemption for the current year is March 1st and cannot be extended.Manatee-County-Property-Appraiser

Key Exemptions & Savings

  • Homestead Exemption: Reduces the assessed value of your primary residence by up to $50,000. To qualify, you must own the property and reside there permanently as of January 1st of the application year.
  • Low-Income Senior Exemption: Property owners aged 65 or older who meet established income limits receive an additional exemption of up to $25,000 applicable to the county millage rate.
  • Veterans & Disability Exemptions: Various exemptions are available for veterans with service-connected disabilities, surviving spouses of veterans or first responders, and civilians with total and permanent disabilities.
  • Portability: You can transfer the assessment difference accrued under the “Save Our Homes” program from your previous Florida primary residence to your new residence.

How to Apply
